Account Deletion
Kunbaa by VRITUL PTY LTD
This page says exactly what deleting a Kunbaa account does today: what is deleted straight away, what a background job deletes afterwards, what is kept for your family, and for how long. Deleting cannot be undone.
Delete from the mobile app
- In the Kunbaa app, tap the menu button at the top of the screen and open Account.
- Tap Settings, then Delete account under Privacy and account.
- Confirm. The phone is signed out, and your other signed-in devices stop working within about a minute.
If the app says it could not delete your account, part of it may already be gone. Wait two minutes and try again.
If you can't use the app
On kunbaa.com, sign in and open Settings, then Account, and choose Delete account. If you can't sign in, email privacy@kunbaa.com from the email address on the account, or tell us the phone number you sign in with, and ask us to delete the account. You can also write to us through the contact form.
Deleted straight away
- Your account profile: your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, the link to your profile photo, your settings and email preferences, your Kunbaa AI choice and your plan status.
- The sign-in links for your email address, phone number and Apple, Google or Facebook account.
- The devices registered to get your notifications, and your list of notifications.
- Your Family Safety data: your last shared position, your location history, your arrivals and departures at saved places, and any live location you shared in a chat.
- Anything Kunbaa AI stored for your account.
- Your record at RevenueCat, the service that tracks subscriptions bought in the app, if you bought one there.
Deleted by a background job
When your account is deleted, a background job starts on the rest. It works in steps, and a step that fails is tried again later until the job is done. Until the job reaches something, it stays as it was.
- Usage analytics events stored under a coded id for your account.
- Feedback and requests for help you sent from the app.
- "Seen by" records of the wall posts you viewed.
- Your reactions in chats.
- The location on live-location cards you sent in chats.
- A chat nobody else is in any more, with its messages and the photos and videos sent only in it. Event chats, family group chats and chats under an open report are kept instead, with your account taken off them.
- The photo on your person in the family tree. The picture itself is deleted too when it was uploaded as that person's photo; a photo picked from the family's library stays in the library.
- Your list of muted relatives, and your entry on the lists of relatives who muted you.
- Requests you sent to a family's admins for more access, with your message.
Kept for your family, with your account taken off
Your family keeps these, with your account taken off them:
- Your posts and comments on the family wall. The author becomes "Deleted family member" and your account photo is removed, but each post stays linked to your person on the family tree, so the family can still see your name from the tree beside it.
- Messages you sent in the chats you are in when you delete your account, including one-to-one chats. The others in them keep the messages, photos and videos.
- Photos, videos, voice notes and files you shared with your family: in the library, in albums, in posts, and in chats others are still in.
- Events and tasks you created or took part in. Your reply to an event stays, without the email address, phone number or notes on it.
- Reports you made, or about something you posted. While a report is open, your note on it and the copy of what you posted stay, so it can be reviewed; they are removed once the report is dismissed.
- Group chats you owned. They pass to the longest-standing admin, or else to the longest-standing member.
Kept, with no set end date
A family space is shared, so deleting your account does not delete what the family holds together:
- Your person on the family tree: name, dates, relationships and notes. Its link to your account and its photo are removed, as are the email address or phone number your invite was sent to and any email address or phone number saved in its details.
- Families you created that still have other members. They are not deleted, and neither is what the rest of the family put in them.
- Messages you sent in chats you had already left before deleting your account. They stay as they were.
- Your reactions on wall posts and comments. They still carry your old account id.
- Anything our safety systems blocked stays on record with the details of the account that posted it, for safety and legal reasons. A blocked photo or video stays unavailable to everyone.
Kept for a set time
- Photos and videos sent in chat follow the family's plan. On the free plan they stop showing 12 months after they were sent, and the file is deleted at least 14 days after that. On Kunbaa Plus they are kept.
- Sparks you posted are not removed early. Like every Spark, each one stops showing a day after it was posted.
- A deletion record — your old account id and the date, nothing else — for 30 days, so the deleted account cannot be signed back into. You can sign up again with the same email address or phone number at any time; that creates a new, empty account.
- The background job's own record — your old account id, the ids of your families, tree persons and chats, and counts of what it did, never your name, email address or phone number — until 35 days after the job is done.
- Backups of our databases for up to 35 days.
- A coded marker that your account signed up, used so each sign-up is counted once, for up to 400 days.
- Server logs, which can include your account id, for up to 90 days.
If you are a family's only admin
- If a family you run has other members and nobody else is its admin, you first ask one of them to take over as admin. Once they accept, you can delete your account. A request that nobody accepts within 30 days lapses, and you can ask someone else.
- If nobody accepts within 14 days of your first request, you can delete your account anyway. Admin then passes to the member who has been in the family longest, and they are told.
- A family you are the only member of is closed and deleted with your account, with everything in it.
- An account that was stopped at the date-of-birth check is never asked to hand over first: its admin passes on straight away.
What deletion cannot reach
- Emails, texts and notifications that were already sent.
- Messages and photos already stored on other people's phones.
- Text already sent to OpenAI to write a digest, which OpenAI deletes on its own schedule (see the Privacy Policy, section 10).
- Analytics already sent to Google.
- Billing records held by Stripe, Apple or Google.
- A sign-up to our website newsletter, which has its own unsubscribe link.
If you pay for Kunbaa Plus
Where you bought the plan decides what deleting your account does to it.
Bought on kunbaa.com. You do not need to cancel first. Deleting your account stops future payments and ends the subscription on its renewal date; there is no refund for the time left. Your family loses the Kunbaa Plus your account paid for straight away, unless the creator's or another admin's Kunbaa Plus covers it. Stripe, which bills the plan, keeps its own customer and invoice records. If Stripe cannot be reached at that moment, your account is still deleted: email privacy@kunbaa.com and we will stop the payments by hand.
Bought inside the app, through the App Store or Google Play. Deleting your Kunbaa account does not cancel that subscription. Apple or Google is the merchant for it, and only they can stop it — so cancel it in that store first, or it keeps renewing and you keep being charged after your Kunbaa account is gone. On an iPhone or iPad: Settings → your name → Subscriptions. On Android: the Play Store app → your profile → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions.
If you would rather stop the plan and keep the account, cancel it with whoever bills you: on kunbaa.com, open the menu under your photo, then Plans, then Manage billing, which opens the secure Stripe billing portal; or in the app store's subscription settings if you bought it there.
Everyone else in your family joins free and has nothing to cancel. Deleting a free member's account never affects the plan the person who pays holds.
