Prices are in US dollars. Kunbaa Plus is US$9.99 a month or US$99.99 a year, the yearly price is 17% less. One person pays, on kunbaa.com or in the app, and their household is covered by that one subscription. A first subscription bought here starts with a 14-day free trial: a card is required, and the first charge for the interval you chose is made when the trial ends unless you cancel first. An app store shows you its own trial and its own local price, including tax, at checkout. Subscriptions renew at the price you subscribed on, and we give at least 30 days' notice, by email and on this page, before any change, so you can cancel first. Cancel any time from Settings → Plans → Manage billing.

Exactly what's free and what the money buys

Talking is free, because a family space only works when the whole family is in it. What one person pays for is keeping: the long videos, the whole archive, and the photos from the family chat.

Group calls come with Plus and Ultra, and we're working on larger family calls.

A plan covers the payer's household: their partner, their children and their partner's children, adopted children included, and both sets of parents, up to 20 accounts. Other relatives use Kunbaa free, or take their own plan.

If you ever stop paying, the family's archive is never deleted. It stays readable to everyone in the family, and anything kept under Plus stays kept. Adding is limited to the free allowance until you renew. A self-serve export is on the way, and until it ships, support will prepare your full archive on request.

Pricing questions

Who pays?

One person (usually the family's keeper, the one who already organizes everything) pays for Kunbaa Plus, on kunbaa.com or in the app. Kunbaa Ultra can be bought in the Kunbaa app or on kunbaa.com. Their household is covered by that one subscription and never needs a card. A plan covers the payer's household: their partner, their children and their partner's children, adopted children included, and both sets of parents, up to 20 accounts. Other relatives use Kunbaa free, or take their own plan. Relatives who only look and talk are never shown a price: the buy prompts belong to whoever runs the family.

Can I bring my family tree from Ancestry or MyHeritage?

Yes, free. Export a GEDCOM file from Ancestry, MyHeritage or most family tree programs and import it on kunbaa.com: a file of up to 5,000 people comes in at once, and the tree itself has no limit on people. Your relatives join free and see the tree with you.

What happens if I stop paying?

Your family's archive is never deleted and stays readable to everyone in the family. Anything kept under Plus stays kept. What changes is what happens next: adding is limited to the free allowance, videos in the archive go back to short clips, and photos and videos sent in chat after that follow the free plan's one-year window. You can also take the archive with you, a self-serve download-everything export is being built, and until it ships, support will prepare your complete archive on request.

Is there a free trial?

Yes: a first Kunbaa Plus subscription bought on kunbaa.com starts with a 14-day free trial, on either billing interval. A card is required to start it, and unless you cancel before it ends the first charge for the interval you chose (US$9.99 monthly, or US$99.99 yearly) is taken automatically. In the App Store and in Google Play the equivalent offer is the first 2 weeks free, shown to you at checkout. Trials are not offered to accounts that have subscribed before.

Monthly or yearly?

Whichever suits you. Kunbaa Plus is US$9.99 a month or US$99.99 a year, the yearly price is 17% less, and works out to about US$8.33 a month for the payer's household, about 27¢ a day. One plan covers your household: for a family of 6, about US$1.40 a person a month. Kunbaa's job is keeping things for the long term, so yearly is what we'd pick; monthly is there because committing a year to a young product is a real ask. You can switch between them at any time from the billing portal.

Kunbaa Plus or Kunbaa Ultra?

Kunbaa Plus is the plan for most families. Kunbaa Ultra is for a family with a big archive to keep: everything in Plus with 5 times the room. Both cover the same people.

What does the plan actually buy?

Kunbaa AI for your household, and keeping what it shares. Everyone in the family talks, calls, shares and is seen for free. Kunbaa Plus brings Kunbaa AI to your household, and keeps everything it shares. In practice: Kunbaa AI for everyone the plan covers: ask about your family, and get plans and catch-ups; the family's own videos and photos on the TV, in the Kunbaa TV app; longer videos in the family archive, where the free plan keeps to short clips; room for the whole family's archive rather than enough to begin; and the photos and videos shared in chat kept for as long as the family is on Plus, where the free plan keeps them for a year and then lets them go. One purchase covers the payer's household, on a product funded by families rather than advertisers.

How long are photos and videos sent in chat kept?

On the free plan, 12 months from the day each one is sent; then it is removed from the chat. A placeholder says so when one goes, and in its last month anyone who runs the family can tap Keep this to save a copy to the family archive, where it stays for good. On Kunbaa Plus they stay in the chat for as long as the family is on Plus, and anything kept under Plus never expires afterwards. Sending is never blocked by the archive being full, on either plan.

Why are accounts 18+?

On purpose. Adults keep it, kids are in it: your children appear in the tree and in the photos, added by you. Adults-only means no stranger can ever be inside your family's space, and Kunbaa is not collecting data on children.

How do I cancel?

Cancel with whoever bills you. Bought on kunbaa.com: sign in and go to Settings, then Plans, then Manage billing. Bought on iPhone or iPad, cancel it with Apple: Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Kunbaa (https://support.apple.com/en-us/118428). Bought on Android, cancel it with Google Play: the Play Store app, your profile picture, Payments & subscriptions, Subscriptions, Kunbaa (https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/7018481). The plan stays on until the end of the period you have paid for, with no cancellation fee and no minimum term. Deleting your Kunbaa account cancels a kunbaa.com subscription but not one bought in an app store: cancel that in the store first.

Can I get a refund?

For a plan bought on kunbaa.com, email support@kunbaa.com and we will look at it. If you were charged by mistake, charged twice, or charged after you cancelled, we refund it. Cancelling stops the next renewal but does not by itself refund a period that has already started, unless the law requires a refund; your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, and your own country's consumer law, are never reduced by this. For the App Store, Apple decides refunds, not Kunbaa: ask at https://reportaproblem.apple.com, signed in with the Apple Account you paid with. For Google Play, request it from Google Play (https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/2479637).

Can I move between Kunbaa Plus and Kunbaa Ultra?

On kunbaa.com, a Kunbaa Plus subscriber moves up to Kunbaa Ultra from Settings, then Plans: the payment page shows what you will pay before you confirm. Moving down takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, so you keep Kunbaa Ultra until then. A plan bought in the App Store or Google Play is changed in that store.

What currency do you charge in, and is tax included?

On kunbaa.com prices are in US dollars, and your bank may convert them. Where we have to charge tax, such as GST in Australia, it is included in the price, never added on top, and your invoice shows it. kunbaa.com does not take payments from every country yet; where it can't, checkout says so before anything is charged. The App Store and Google Play charge in your local currency and show that price, with any tax, before you confirm.

What is a founding-family year?

A founding family is given a year of Kunbaa Plus for their household by invitation, redeemed on kunbaa.com. It costs nothing and needs no card. It doesn't renew by itself, so nothing is charged when it ends: your family goes back to the free plan, and your family's archive is never deleted. If you start a subscription during that year, the subscription is what covers you, and the year keeps counting down beside it.
