How to delete your Kunbaa account
You can delete your account from inside the app or on kunbaa.com in under a minute. If you are the only admin of a family, you hand it over first. Before you delete, it's worth knowing exactly what deletion covers, and grabbing a copy of anything you want to keep.
Before you delete: keep a copy
Deletion is permanent, so if there's anything in your family space you'd want later (photos you added, stories you wrote), request a copy of your archive first. See getting your data out of Kunbaa.
Delete from the mobile app
- Open the Kunbaa app on your iPhone or Android phone, tap the menu button at the top of the screen, open Account, then tap Settings.
- Scroll to Privacy and account.
- Choose Delete account and confirm the deletion prompt.
That's it. Your profile and your sign-in are removed and the phone is signed out.
Delete on kunbaa.com
- Sign in at kunbaa.com and open Settings in the dashboard, then Usage.
- At the bottom, under Want to leave Kunbaa?, choose Delete your account. (The page is also at kunbaa.com/dashboard/settings/account once you are signed in.)
- Choose Delete account, then Yes, delete my account.
If you are the only admin of a family
Kunbaa will not leave a family with nobody in charge. If you are the only admin, deleting asks you to choose another member to take over as admin first, and they accept. If nobody accepts within 14 days of your first request, deletion goes ahead anyway and admin passes to the member who has been in the family longest. You can do the handover in the app, or on kunbaa.com from the same page as above.
What deletion covers, and what it doesn't
Deleting your account removes you: your sign-in profile and your sign-in. It doesn't erase what you shared into the family space, because a family archive is shared by design. The photo you added of your grandmother is part of her story for everyone, not just your account. Your posts and comments stay without your account's name and photo, and your chat messages, uploads and your person on the family tree stay as they are. The account deletion page lists what is deleted, what is kept and for how long.
If you want specific content removed as well as your account, tell us. Email privacy@kunbaa.com and describe what you'd like taken down. You can also tick Also remove my shared photos and posts when you delete: your photos, videos and posts are then deleted everywhere you shared them, including family albums and chats. Left unticked, what you shared stays for your family, shown as from “Deleted family member”. The formal detail is in the Privacy Policy's retention and deletion section.
If you can't access the app
Email privacy@kunbaa.com from the email address used for your Kunbaa account, and say whether you want the account deleted or only specific data removed. You can also use the contact form. There's a summary of both routes on the account deletion page.
Common questions
Does deleting my account delete the family's photos?
No. Deleting your account removes your profile and your sign-in, but what you shared stays with the family: your photos, videos and chat messages as they are, and your posts and comments without your account's name and photo. The account deletion page lists everything that is deleted and kept, and for how long. If you want specific photos or posts removed too, delete them before you delete your account, or email privacy@kunbaa.com.
Can I delete my account without access to the app?
Yes. Email privacy@kunbaa.com from the email address used for your Kunbaa account and ask for deletion. Tell us whether you want the whole account deleted or only specific data removed.
I am the only admin of my family. Can I still delete my account?
Yes, but you hand the family over first. Kunbaa asks you to choose another member to take over as admin, and they accept. If nobody accepts within 14 days of your first request, deletion goes ahead anyway and admin passes to the member who has been in the family longest, who is told. Either way the family carries on without you.
I just want to stop paying. Should I delete my account?
No need. If you let the paid plan lapse, your family's archive is never deleted: everything in it stays readable to your family, anything kept while you were on Kunbaa Plus or Kunbaa Ultra stays kept, and adding new memories is limited to the free allowance until you renew. Photos and videos sent in chat from then on follow the free plan's one-year window. Deleting your account is only for when you want your own profile gone.
Does deleting my account cancel my subscription?
It depends where you bought it. A plan bought on kunbaa.com stops as part of deleting your account: nothing further is charged, the subscription ends on its renewal date with no refund, and the household your plan covered loses Kunbaa Plus or Kunbaa Ultra straight away unless someone else's plan covers them. A plan bought inside the mobile app is billed by the App Store or Google Play, and only that store can stop it: deleting your Kunbaa account does not cancel it, so cancel it in the store first or it keeps renewing. On iPhone or iPad: Settings, your name, Subscriptions. On Android: the Play Store app, your profile, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions.
