Group & one-to-one chat

Voice and video calls only your family can place: one-to-one, or, on Kunbaa Plus and Ultra, a group of up to 6. No phone number is handed out, and a call starts from a relative's page on the family tree. Beside them, a private chat where plans and photos stay findable.

Your household's group made from your tree, the groups you start, and a direct line to each relative.

How a family uses it
Plans in the family chat, a word with Mum, then everyone on one screen.
Chats
Your household's group, made from your tree and kept in step with it, the groups you start, and a direct line to each relative. Invite-only: nobody outside the family can join.
A direct line
Photos, pins, reactions and read receipts, so you know when Mum has seen it.
Call
Call any relative from their chat or their page on the family tree. One-to-one calls are free for everyone, and nobody hands out a phone number, so no stranger, sales call or scam call can arrive on it.
Everyone on one screen
Up to six people on one call with Kunbaa Plus. Start it from a family group chat, or tap Add during a call. See plans.
New to calls on Kunbaa? The first-time guide walks through chats, groups and calls, and calls troubleshooting covers locked-down networks.
Call your mother in Delhi or your brother in Toronto from inside the app. Voice or video, one-to-one and free, for every member of the family. Nobody hands out a phone number, so no stranger, sales call or scam call can arrive on it.
On Kunbaa Plus or Ultra, bring in up to five more from a family group chat or by tapping Add during a call. Anyone in the family can join the call.

A chat compresses the photo and, on WhatsApp, keeps it on the servers only for a limited period. So a two-year-old photo can fail to re-download.
Let the group carry the talking; the wedding photos, the baby news and the video of the speech belong in the family archive, with the names and the date beside them.

The chat, the photos and the tree are shared only with the family. No public feed, no discovery, and private family content is not used for third-party ad targeting.
Chat and one-to-one calls are free for the whole family; one person can pay for Kunbaa Plus, the space that holds the archive, and everyone else stays free.
Most families talk in one big WhatsApp group, and Kunbaa's chat isn't trying to replace it. It's the room next door: private and invite-only, where the plans, photos and news that matter stay connected to the people, events and memories they belong to.
Call a parent overseas from inside the app. No separate calling app, no cost, no phone number handed out. A call can only come from a relative in your family space, and it starts from their page on the tree, so the photo she is about to ask about is already on screen. One-to-one calls are free for everyone; group calls of up to 6 come with Kunbaa Plus and Ultra, and anyone in the family can join one. On some locked-down networks a call may not connect; the calls help guide covers what to try.
WhatsApp compresses media substantially and stores it on its servers only for a limited period, so an old photo can fail to re-download if the sender no longer has the original, which is why the things worth keeping belong in the family's archive, beside the family tree.
Chat and one-to-one calls are free for every family member in the Kunbaa mobile app. Kunbaa Plus changes how long what you send is kept: chat photos and videos are kept for a year on the free plan, and for as long as the family is on Kunbaa Plus. See pricing.

No, that's where the day's chatter lives. Kunbaa keeps and calls: the photos, plans and news worth finding again live in the family archive with the names and dates written down, and the call to your mother comes from her page on the family tree, not from a phone number anyone can dial.
Yes, one-to-one, for every family member on the free plan, unlimited, unmetered, no credit card needed. Voice or video: one-to-one calls are free for everyone; group calls of up to 6 come with Kunbaa Plus and Ultra, and anyone in the family can join one. On some restrictive networks a call may not connect.
Yes, voice or video. Group calls of up to 6 come with Kunbaa Plus and Ultra, and anyone in the family can join one. Start one from a family group chat, or tap Add during a call. Six is what a phone carries well on home Wi-Fi, and with five or six on the call every camera steps down a notch to stay smooth.
Invite-only, no public feed, nobody's data sold, and everything is shared only with the family. We don't claim end-to-end encryption. The 'How private is Kunbaa?' guide in Help explains what private means here.
Chat and calls live in the Kunbaa mobile app. The website is where you build the family tree, keep memories, photos and events, choose who sees each post (on Kunbaa Plus and Ultra), set member permissions, and import a GEDCOM file or a WhatsApp group.
Nothing: chat and one-to-one calls are free for everyone in the family, unlimited and unmetered, and nobody else ever needs a credit card. A chat send is never blocked by a full archive. Kunbaa Plus at $9.99/mo or $99.99/yr on kunbaa.com or in the app changes one thing about chat: how long what you send is kept.
On the free plan, a year from sending, then let go. A placeholder says so, and in the last month anyone who runs the family can tap Keep this to save a copy of one to the family archive for good. On Kunbaa Plus they stay in the chat for as long as the family is on Plus, and anything kept under Plus never expires afterwards.
